ATM development tool features unparalleled PNNI simulation
capability and incorporates signaling impairment to
advance high-capacity switch development
RADCOM Ltd. (NASDAQ: RDCM), a leading network test and quality management solutions provider, announced today the immediate availability of the Platinum version of its industry-leading Private Network-to-Network Interface (PNNI) Simulation solution.
PNNISim--Platinum(TM) emulates a large-scale ATM network, comprised of hundreds of nodes, links and ATM end stations, to which actual ATM switches can be connected. This powerful new version supports a 10-layer hierarchy and can simulate more than 500 nodes on a single PC--effectively doubling currently available performance capabilities. It employs a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent for remote control operations and features User Defined Routing (UDR). UDR enables the integration of custom routing algorithms so that customers can architect a virtual test network that emulates their specific network build-out plans.
Another important element of this powerful new offering is signaling impairment. This capability meets the developer community's need to introduce and test the effects of signaling-related errors, such as message delays and dropped messages, on advanced ATM devices. PNNISim--Platinum also features an easy to use scripting tool to automate various and rigorous PNNI testing processes.
This feature-rich and robust solution benefits ATM switch vendors and providers of ATM-based network services by reducing time to market and providing a cost-effective method of verifying the performance of high-capacity ATM switches before deploying them in new or expanded ATM networks.
PNNI Protocol
PNNI is a hierarchical, dynamic link-state routing protocol. It distributes network topology and reachability information across a network and then uses that information to route calls. It supports the integration of multiple-vendor ATM switches in the same network and is a practical Quality of Service solution for convergence technology-based applications that use a combination of voice, video and data over the same physical line.
"The increasing demand for mobile data services is driving a strong, resurgent interest in ATM as a convergence-enabling technology," says Frost & Sullivan industry expert Sailaja Vepa. "Since DSL and cellular 3G architectures typically use ATM in the backbone, the demand for ATM test solutions for PNNI architectures, such as those provided by RADCOM, is expected to rise."
"In order to capitalize on RADCOM's technological lead in this important market segment, the Company has added a PNNI product development lab to its headquarters in North America," said Anthony S. Wiley, President of RADCOM Equipment, Inc. "By leveraging relationships with current PNNISim solution customers, including most major U.S. based developers and service providers, including Cisco and Nortel, the company hopes to broaden its market penetration by continuing to deliver new solutions and enhancements that meet evolving customer needs."
