CHANTILLY, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2001
Cryptek Secure Communications LLC, a provider of military-grade computer security technology for commercial and government customers, announced today that the U.S. Commerce Department has granted it an export license exception for Encryption (ENC) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI). This commercial license allows Cryptek to export its network security products - which incorporate powerful 168 bit 3DES (Digital Encryption Standard) technology - to any customer worldwide, without requiring a formal export license.
The new export license permits Cryptek to export its DiamondTEK suite of network security devices to commercial, government or military customers anywhere in the world, with the exception of the seven "terrorist sponsoring nations." Under the license, governments and military organizations can now purchase DiamondTEK devices without key recovery restrictions.
"We are the first and only company to receive a commercial export license of this breadth for advanced encryption," said David Gross, CEO, Cryptek. "Our ability to grow our business internationally will be greatly aided by the new opportunities represented by this commercial export license."
DiamondTEK provides robust key recovery mechanisms built into the product to allow export worldwide. Because the system generates a new set of keys for each individual secure connection and stores them in the DiamondCentral network security center, the owners/operators of the system can use the keys to monitor secure network traffic. This methodology was developed to facilitate internal security audits by system operators. Cryptek's unique approach meets the requirements for KMI exception.
Cryptek's DiamondTEK products utilize a combination of strong commercial encryption, firewall and IP security technology, and strong user authentication implemented in a self-protecting network appliance. DiamondTEK gives administrators the tools to create Dynamic Secure Virtual Networks (DSVN) (TM) within a single network infrastructure and supports an environment where multiple levels and categories of secure communications can co-exist without one interfering with the other.
