Genesis Microchip (Nasdaq:GNSS) -- a pioneer in LCD monitor technology -- today reported DiCON Electronics Co., Ltd. is using a Genesis LCD controller chip in their new mainstream LCD monitor.
DiCON monitors -- popular in their native Korea -- are renown for their space-saving design and superb image quality. The new NexView 1500 relies on the Genesis gmZAN1 chip to ensure legacy compatibility with all analog-interface PC graphics cards, as well as provide numerous image-processing functions for its mainstream 15-inch, XGA screen.
Leading market research firm DisplaySearch reports 15-inch LCD monitors represent more than 76% of the market, by far the largest segment.
"We looked at other LCD controller solutions, but we've once again chosen a Genesis chip," said Tae-Heung Yoo, DiCON's CEO. "It gives us the value we need to stay competitive in this growing market."
DiCON has used previous versions of Genesis processors in their Nexview 121SC, 121AL, 151, 151XB, 151XC, HL1500A, HL1530A and HL1800 LCD monitors.
The gmZAN1 LCD controller combines the company's patented algorithms and architectures to "piece together" the best analog-interface technology Genesis has to offer. This includes Genesis's well-received scaling process and its proven 8-bit triple analog-to-digital converter (ADC).
Founded in 1990, DiCON Electronics Co., Ltd. began its business with the intention of improving computer design technology. Since its establishment, DiCON's products have been recognized around the world for their quality and value. The company was the first to manufacture LCD monitors in Korea.
