Legato Delivers Enhanced Data Protection
for SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 Server Users
Legato Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:LGTO), a worldwide leader in enterprise storage management, announces the release of two Legato(R) NetWorker(R) Modules. These modules will provide increased backup and restore capabilities for organizations that utilize Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 Server. NetWorker(R) Module 3.0 for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 ensures complete data integrity and availability of SQL Server 2000 database applications by protecting data at the database, transaction log, file and filegroup levels. NetWorker(R) Module 3.0 for Microsoft Exchange Server provides high-performance data protection for Exchange 2000 Servers.
The Legato NetWorker Modules for SQL Server and Exchange Server provide fast, automated, online backup and restore of SQL Server databases and Exchange messaging data to a locally attached device or over-the-network to a centralized backup server. Legato NetWorker delivers increased enterprise scalability, supporting Microsoft Cluster Server for enhanced availability of SQL Server databases and Exchange messaging data. These NetWorker Modules are integrated with Microsoft APIs providing reliable full, incremental, differential and copy backups. This offers system administrators the flexibility to backup and restore based on the service level requirements of their organizations. Both modules operate in Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN) environments.
"Maintaining highly available systems not only requires reliable software like Microsoft's .NET Enterprise Servers, it requires discipline and a set of best practices from the hardware level to the network," said Stan Sorensen, director of .NET Enterprise Server product management at Microsoft Corporation. "With its new NetWorker Modules for SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 Server, Legato provides an essential piece of infrastructure for customers seeking 24x7 availability."
NetWorker Modules for Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server enable IT organizations to protect SQL Server databases and Exchange messaging data while keeping the applications available to users. Some of the most important and difficult-to-replace information generated by businesses is contained in electronic mail messages stored on an Exchange server or in SQL Server databases that contain transaction level data.
"With the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 Server, Microsoft extends further into the data center," said Dorothy Pults, director of product management, Windows Product Group, Legato Systems, "Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server are the leading applications for the Windows(R) platform and are a core part of Microsoft .NET. The Legato NetWorker Modules give IT managers the data protection required for these mission critical applications."
Pricing and Availability
Pricing for NetWorker Module 3.0 for Microsoft SQL Server and NetWorker Module 3.0 for Microsoft Exchange Server are $1,380 each. Both products are currently available to all customers at www.legato.com.
