About Westinghouse
Westinghouse Electric Company, wholly owned by BNFL plc of the United Kingdom, offers a wide range of nuclear plant products and services to utilities throughout the world, including fuel, spent fuel management, service and maintenance, instrumentation and control, and advanced nuclear plant designs.
Since its acquisition by BNFL in March, 1999, Westinghouse has been able to strengthen its position in and commitment to the worldwide commercial nuclear power industry. In April, 2000, Westinghouse purchased the nuclear businesses of ABB. This acquisition brings Westinghouse's worldwide employment to more than 9,000. Annual revenues now approximate $2 billion. Historically, more than 40 percent of the world's operating commercial nuclear plants had been provided by either Westinghouse or its licensees. With the integration of ABB into Westinghouse, that percentage has grown to 50 percent, clearly giving Westinghouse the world's largest installed base of operating plants.
