UniComp to Exhibit Its Family of Customer-Activated Wireless Retail Kiosks At Food Market Institute's Tradeshow February 18-20 in New Orleans
Business Wire, Feb 7, 2001

MARIETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2001
UNICOMP INC. (Nasdaq: UCMP), a provider of customer activated wireless devices, retail e-business solutions, and software solutions for companies, resellers and system integrators worldwide, today announced that it will be exhibiting its customer-activated wireless retail MicroKiosk(R) 1000 at the Food Marketing Institute's (FMI) MARKETECHNICS trade show.
The show will be held on February 18-20 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. In attendance will be storeowners and operators, retailers, wholesalers, IT operations professionals and marketing and merchandising professionals.
UniComp's new family of wireless kiosk products are designed to address the broader needs of the retail market by providing retailers and integrators alike with a series of products that maximize performance and functionality at various price points. Unlike competitive offerings, UniComp's products allow the retailer the freedom to match product capabilities with real customer service requirements, advertising capabilities and future functionality without compromising because of cost.
"Kiosks being developed for the Retail markets can offer retailers Web access, and online customer service with order placement and fulfillment," said UniComp CEO and President Stephen A. Hafer. "The next generation will provide retailers with data mining, market research and demographics, in-store promotions, and increased product offerings. And," continued Hafer, "because the kiosks can operate in a wireless environment, they can be seamlessly connected to a retailer's local area network and back office. This should be attractive to retailers as they maintain customer traffic flexibility and avoid cumbersome, wire-based installations."
Hafer noted that with the exception of UniComp, no company has looked at the market from the perspective of matching products and functionality to a variety of interactive customer service requirements and price points. Even more importantly, no companies are focusing specifically on the retail markets but instead are fitting their freestanding kiosks to meet general market requirements.
