NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2001
theglobe.com's (Nasdaq:TGLO) Computer Games Magazine, part of theglobe.com's games network (http://games.theglobe.com) has announced the nominees for its annual awards honoring the best in computer game entertainment. The nominees consist of three nominated games in each of fifteen categories, including Action Game of the Year, Classic Game of the Year and Strategy Game of the Year.
The winners in each category and "Game Of The Year" will be announced in the magazine's April issue to hit newsstands March 6. The April issue will also feature CGM's picks in irreverent sub-categories including Best Voice Acting, Most Annoying Trend, Most Spot-On Title, Most Likely To Inspire Legislation, Most Never-Ending, Best Music, plus the worst games of 2000. The article will also include predictions for best of 2001 with the caveat, "we'll probably be wrong, but at least you can keep the issue around and laugh at us later."
"It's been an interesting year for computer games with all the hoopla surrounding the release of PS2 and the unveiling of Microsoft's X-Box supposedly paving the way for the death of computer gaming," said Steve Bauman, editor-in-chief, Computer Games Magazine. "Through all the hype, computer games have prevailed (not to the surprise of CGM's editors) and we're delighted to honor some of the games that we think are among the most inspired and playable be released during the year 2000."
