Emulex Signs Agreement to Supply EMC With Fibre Channel Chip Technology for Symmetrix Enterprise Storage Systems; Emulex's Dragonfly Chip Provides Reliability and High Performance

Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq:EMLX), the world's leading supplier of Fibre Channel host adapters, Thursday announced it will supply EMC Corp. (NYSE:EMC) with its Dragonfly chip, which is designed to provide the target connection in Fibre Channel-enabled storage systems.
EMC storage systems provide industry-leading performance, availability, and scalable capacity with unique information protection, sharing and management capabilities for all major mainframe and open server environments.

Emulex LightPulse(R) Product Family
Emulex's Dragonfly chip provides a unique combination of features, and is the foundation for the company's LightPulse family of Fibre Channel host bus adapters. The Dragonfly chip is designed for mission-critical enterprise applications, with features including full fabric support, high data integrity, full-duplex operation, data buffering for up to 100km of cabling and support for all Fibre Channel topologies.
The company's host bus adapters are also supported by a rich suite of software for storage protocol (SCSI), network protocol (IP), as well as multi-protocol (SCSI & IP) operation, enabling advanced SAN and network applications. Emulex provides a wide range of operating system support, including Windows NT and 2000, Solaris, AIX, UnixWare and NetWare.
The Emulex Fibre Channel family includes the 2 Gb/s LP9002(TM) host bus adapter, SBus-based LP8000S(TM) host adapter, LP8000(TM) and LP850(TM) host bus adapters, the high-performance PCI-based LP7000E(TM) and the industry's first digital re-timing hub, the LH5000(TM) series.
