WILTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2001
Mercator(R) Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCTR) today announced its membership in the Universal Description, Discovery and Integration Project (UDDI), a coalition of business and technology leaders committed to the acceleration of business-to-business commerce on the Internet.
Launched in September with 36 companies, UDDI has since grown to over 130 members, including Microsoft, Ariba, Commerce One and IBM.
"The success of e-business hinges on the adoption of universal technology and trading practice standards, and that's UDDI's mission," said Roy King, president and CEO of Mercator. "Universal standards will contribute to cost-savings, process improvements, and consumer confidence. All of these elements are vital to fulfilling the promise of e-business."
Mercator's suite of integration software includes Mercator Enterprise Broker, Mercator Commerce Broker and Mercator Web Broker, all providing companies with a powerful platform from which to launch their e-business initiatives and enabling business-to-business integration and transformation across all commercial touch points.
UDDI's specifications build on core Internet standards including TCP/IP, HTML and XML, and are independent of any underlying platform, language, object model, business application or marketplace. It is the intention of UDDI members to transition the specifications to an industry standards body in the next 15 months.
