BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 2001
Set up, Ease of Use, and "Excellent Management Features" Leads to
Highest Rating in Comparative Review
Baltimore Technologies (NASDAQ:BALT; London:BLM), a global leader in e-security, today announced that Baltimore SelectAccess(TM), the next generation in access and authorization management software, received the highest score in eWeek's Access Control Application review (January 22nd issue), besting solutions from Netegrity, Inc., Entegrity Solutions and Securant Technologies.
eWeek wrote that SelectAccess has "one of the best interfaces" tested during the evaluation, "providing a cross-grid matrix that made it simple to match up access to servers with our directory users." The eWeek Reviewer wrote, "SelectAccess was easy to set up, and the product automatically pulled pertinent user information from our LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) directory." SelectAccess received top marks for its access control rules and policies and for its management capabilities, "offering one of the most straightforward management interfaces."

> "eWeek's comparative review demonstrates that Baltimore SelectAccess is the most advanced access and authorization management product available, providing unparalleled ease of use, management and flexibility," said Joyce Fai, SelectAccess business area manager of Baltimore Technologies. "SelectAccess is next generation access and authorization management to meet the growing security needs of today's global e-businesses. This review reinforces Baltimore's core strategy of enabling customers to control the Who (authentication and PKI), What (content security) and Where (access and authorization) of information security."As businesses worldwide, such as service providers, enterprise portals, financial institutions and government agencies, move applications, data and relationships online, there is a blurring of the traditional boundaries between employees, partners, customers and vendors. This convergence creates a virtual enterprise with a critical need to closely manage access and transaction privileges for individuals and groups. The fine-grained, policy-based access and authorization management provided by SelectAccess empowers businesses to mirror real-world relationships online. Designed around XML and LDAP, SelectAccess also empowers organizations to leverage existing and future IT investments by extending to Web and non-Web applications throughout heterogeneous IT environments.
