SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2001
Persistence(R) Software (Nasdaq:PRSW), the Engine for E-Commerce(TM), announced today that it has joined the advisory committee of the World Wide Web Consortium, which is chartered to promote interoperable standards for technology, enabling the Web to reach its full potential as a forum for information, commerce and communication.
Representing Persistence will be Senior Software Architect Jeff Mischkinsky, who plans to actively participate in the XML Protocol Core Working Group and the XML Schema Working Group. Joining W3C helps ensure Persistence technology remains at the forefront of innovation. "By joining W3C, Persistence can participate in creating standards for XML and track emerging XML-related work, as it becomes increasingly important in the e-commerce infrastructure," said Mischkinsky.
The goal of XML Protocol Activity is to develop technologies that allow two or more peers to communicate in a distributed environment using XML as its encapsulation language. Solutions developed by this activity may allow a layered architecture on top of an extensible and simple messaging format, which provides robustness, simplicity, reusability and interoperability. By participating in the XML Protocol Working Group, Mischkinsky will assist in developing a framework for XML-based messaging systems, which includes specifying a message envelop format and a method for data serialization, directed mainly, but not exclusively, to RPC applications.
"The W3C is committed to helping maintain the highest standards in XML protocol," said Christopher Keene, CEO of Persistence. "Jeff's broad range of experience in this field is expected to be a great asset to the board and can allow Persistence to lend its knowledge to help further the goals of the consortium."
