Leading Technology Consulting and Research
Firm Uses WebEx Meeting Center
and WebEx OnStage for Online Meetings
WebEx Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBX), the company that powers real-time meetings on the Web, today announced that it has signed Aberdeen Group, a leading provider of technology market consulting and research for the investment and IT supplier communities, as both a WebEx Meeting Center and WebEx OnStage service customer. Aberdeen uses its WebEx services to promote research reports and practices, demonstrate products and hold presentations to its international client base, and improve internal communications. The WebEx interactive communications platform is the choice of leading telecommunications providers, global 1000 businesses and business portals, and is the standard for business meetings on the Web.
"WebEx is able to support the full range of Web-based meetings-from large, virtual auditorium presentations to small, highly interactive meetings," said Tom Willmott, CEO of Aberdeen Group. "WebEx OnStage allows us to hold large webcasts, which promote our research reports and practices; demonstrate products to existing and potential clients; and deliver our analysis and recommendations to clients. WebEx Meeting Center allows us to more effectively and efficiently leverage our talent by holding internal meetings via the Web. WebEx lets us create teams based on specialty, not geography, and put the best people on every project."
WebEx's real-time communications services allow users to have interactive online meetings while sharing presentations, documents, applications, and Web pages. The service can be used through a standard browser without requiring any pre-installed software or any special network configuration.
"Because the WebEx platform is able to support the entire range of interaction-data, voice and video-our services are perfect for all Aberdeen's Web-based communications needs," said Subrah Iyar, chairman and CEO of WebEx Communication, Inc. "WebEx allows Aberdeen to expand its potential client base by holding large Web briefings, and improve internal communications with interactive Web meetings. Aberdeen is one of the world's leading technology consulting firms with Fortune 1000 clients, and we believe this customer relationship will also be tremendous lead generator for WebEx."
Aberdeen Group is using both WebEx Meeting Center and WebEx OnStage, two services built on the WebEx interactive platform. WebEx Meeting Center allows users to hold highly interactive, feature rich online meetings. WebEx OnStage is design to support large, virtual auditorium presentations.
WebEx Meeting Center's real-time meeting features include:
-- Application Sharing enables participants to run a software application on their desktop and have others view and optionally control the application. -- Presentation Sharing allows meeting participants to spontaneously share presentations without uploading the file to a server. -- Document Sharing allows meeting attendees to jointly view a document or graphic independent of the software application. -- Web Co-Browsing allows participants to co-navigate the Web. -- Desktop Remote Control allows the control of user's system remotely by another meeting participant (permission must be granted). -- File Transfer enables file transfer to all participants within a meeting. -- Polling enables instant feedback from attendees. -- Live Chat allows participants to chat publicly and privately. -- Record and Playback allows the recording of meetings for playback. -- Live Video supports a desktop video camera, enabling easy videoconferencing through a standard Web browser. -- Comprehensive Browser-Controlled Teleconferencing allows attendees to participate in a teleconference by calling into the meeting or having the WebEx service call out to the attendee.
WebEx OnStage's real-time meeting features include:
-- Personal Event Manager allows presenters to concentrate on
their presentation and ensures a successful event
