Next Generation e-business Infrastructure Management Product Delivers
24x7 Availability for Critical Web Sites and Services
At the COMNET Conference & Expo, NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq:NTIQ), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure management software, today announced AppManager(R)for Web Services, a new module in the NetIQ AppManager Suite of applications and systems management solutions. The NetIQ AppManager for Web Services module will be shown this week at COMNET 2001 in Washington, D.C. -- Booth No. 1656.
AppManager for Web Services is a powerful solution that verifies the availability and health of key Web sites and services from the end-user perspective by allowing Web administrators to "record" Web transactions, such as purchase of items via an on-line shopping cart, and continuously play the transactions back alerting for steps in the transaction that fail or have poor performance. Used in conjunction with other AppManager modules that monitor the performance of back-end servers, databases and Web-based applications, AppManager for Web Services delivers a holistic management solution for Web systems -- correlating end-user experience with performance data from within the data center.
"End-users are setting increasingly high standards for availability and scalability of Web sites in today's high-growth e-business marketplace," said Tom Kemp, senior vice president of products for NetIQ. "Online companies know that downtime can result in loss of revenue, loss of customers, and loss of market position. They need a solution to prevent site failures and achieve higher, more consistent performance levels in order to keep customers coming back and staying longer. NetIQ AppManager for Web Services offers the industry's most in-depth feature set for ensuring reliability of core Web operations."
With AppManager for Web Services, IT personnel cannot only record and play back Web transactions, such as purchasing a book or completing a stock trade, but also minimize catastrophic Web site down-time with automatic recovery procedures, assure site integrity by verifying all the links within a Web site, and optimize Web pages by visually tracking the download response time for individual objects within a Web page. Extensive reporting allows quick and easy diagnosis of Web-site performance problems, and custom, Web-based historical reporting provides extensive level of insight into Web site performance for service level reporting, trending analysis, and capacity planning.
By combining AppManager for Web Services' powerful capabilities of monitoring the end user's experience on a Web site with the capabilities of a Web traffic and e-business analysis product an IT organization can now correlate the business impact of a poorly performing IT infrastructure on their e-business investments.
AppManager for Web Services and the new Pegasus Monitor 4.0, also introduced at COMNET, share the Web Transaction Recorder technology and both execute transactions against production Web servers for performance and availability monitoring. AppManager for Web Services also provides the extensive ability to react to performance problems by taking action directly on Web servers, while Pegasus focuses on key network infrastructure components. Data collected by AppManager for Web Services integrates seamlessly with other AppManager modules as well as network management frameworks and systems, such as Tivoli Enterprise, CA Unicenter TNG, HP OpenView VantagePoint Operations, and Cabletron Spectrum.
Availability
AppManager for Web Services is currently in beta testing. It is scheduled for general availability in Q2 2001.
