ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2001
SUPERnet, the premier broadband Internet exhibition and conference, held January 14-17 in Santa Clara, Calif., drew more than 5, 800 industry professionals, including 1,235 exhibitors, representing 122 exhibiting companies and visitors from 37 foreign countries.
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), owner of SUPERnet, described the success of the event as "a testament to the continued growth of the industry."
"The broadband Internet industry is still one of the hottest sectors in technology and the success of SUPERnet is proof of that," said Matthew J. Flanigan, president of TIA. "Onsite space selection for SUPERnet 2002 has already yielded a show 50 percent larger than the premier event."
SUPERnet 2001 featured industry keynote speakers including Kevin Kennedy, senior vice president of Cisco Systems, and plenary sessions where panelists discussed "The Future of Broadband" and "Service Provider Expectations for Future Networks".
The International Engineering Consortium (IEC), SUPERnet's conference provider, presented highly-targeted sessions on a variety of topics related to the emerging networks of tomorrow, including, optics, IP architecture, broadband, wireless and associated critical business opportunities.
In addition, the event featured the HOTcom Zone, a concept unique to SUPERnet, which featured technology demonstrations from 25 of the industry's most promising new companies in the HOTcom Zone on the exhibit floor. The HOTcom Track ran in parallel and provided these same innovative companies with the opportunity to share their business models and strategies through a series of six interactive tracks.
More than 100 technology analysts and trade press attended SUPERnet 2001.
SUPERnet 2002 will be held January 20-24, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
