"CruiseTV STS embodies the combined efforts of the best and brightest engineers in the industry and this award is a reflection of their effort and dedication to the program. The CruiseTV STS is not only the most aesthetically pleasing satellite tracking system on the market, it is also the most technically advanced and is truly revolutionary in design.
"Transforming the product from the traditional 15-1/2 inches height to the new 9-1/2 inches high enclosure required us to call upon all of our 30-plus years of experience in the design and development of satellite tracking antenna hardware," continued Carver.
CruiseTV STS is a receiver-independent system, eliminating the need for expensive satellite receivers with a low-speed data port, and can be connected to virtually any DIRECTV(R)-configured satellite receiver with a single coaxial cable for low cost and easy installations.
Datron's patented WhisperDrive(TM) technology ensures quick and quiet antenna tracking at rates of up to 40 degrees per second, while the newly incorporated slip-ring/rotary-joint design eliminates cable wrap and allows for continuous rotation of the antenna assembly for uninterrupted viewing.
Capable of providing in excess of 200 channels of digital video and audio programming, the new CruiseTV STS is offered in two sleek, aerodynamic radome styles, designed by RKS Design Inc.
"The design component of the CruiseTV STS reflects influences from some of the advanced car styling we are exposed to here in Southern California. The product form expresses motion and technology, making it both suitable and desirable as an enhancement to SUVs and RVs alike," said Ravi K. Sawheny, president and chief executive officer of RKS Design Inc.
"Datron was the first company to bring live, in-motion satellite programming to the over-the-road market in 1996, and CruiseTV STS is the latest demonstration of Datron's legacy of industry-leading technological innovation and product design," Carver said.
"The CruiseTV STS combines leading-edge design and superior performance to extend the reach of our satellite tracking technology beyond traditional RV, bus and boat markets, to bring high quality on-the-go digital entertainment into the family vehicle segments of the automotive market."
Datron is offering the CruiseTV STS through its nationwide OEM and dealer network at a suggested list price of $3,295. Orders placed now are scheduled for delivery at the end of January.
