Portal Software Readies Telstra OnAir for Wireless Data Services; Australia's Largest Mobile Operator Standardizes on the Infranet Customer Management and Billing Platform

Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRSF), a leading provider of business infrastructure software for next-generation communications services, today announced that Telstra OnAir, Australia's largest mobile telecommunications provider, has selected Infranet(R), Portal's customer management and billing platform. Telstra OnAir will deploy Infranet nationwide to help meet the future demand of its mobile customers for accessing wireless data products and services.

Telstra OnAir is taking a phased approach to implementing Infranet. In the first phase it will deploy the solution and integrate it into its network and systems environment, supporting GPRS packet data services. Phase one of the implementation is due for completion by September 2001.
