A Hilliard Lyons researcher has repeated his performance as a winner in the Wall Street Journal All-Star Analyst contest. On June 26, the national newspaper cited Jeff Thomison as among the best in his field.
The analyst placed fourth among 24 peers in the recreational products and services category. His stock recommendations throughout 2000 generated a return of 81.9 percent, compared to a group mean of negative 42 percent. Among the winning picks were video game publisher THQ, Inc. and toy company JAKKS Pacific.
The honor is Thomison's second career win. In 1997, he placed second in the entertainment sector. Winners of the newspaper contest were ranked on their 2000 advice to investors; results were published in a special section of the June 26 edition of The Journal headlined "Best on the Street."
