DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 2001
Stampede Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of accelerator software for Lotus Notes and Domino enterprises, today announced the development of TurboGold Client-to-Server software for the IBM eServer z900 and S/390 server family to enhance the Lotus Notes performance for an estimated two million end-users. With the addition of TurboGold Client-to-Server for the z900 and S/390 server family, performance gains of up to 5-to-1 can be achieved, with higher transfer rates possible depending on data content and delivery method. The product will be available to ship in early Q4 2001.
"Stampede has had a long and successful business relationship with Lotus and is most pleased to extend this tradition to IBM," said Denis Clark, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development. "In addition to being one our most valued customers, IBM is one of our strongest business partners. Moving TurboGold to the S/390 platform not only strengthens that partnership, but also reaffirms our commitment to providing the benefits our solutions offer to all Lotus Notes and Domino server users, regardless of platform."
According to industry analysts, organizations are keying in on solutions that let users take better advantage of their mainframe resources to run new collaborative application workloads in a reliable and scalable manner. At the same time, they are looking to simplify the management and delivery of established service levels to large Unix and Windows NT server farms. Such organizations, by using TurboGold, can achieve savings in both time and bandwidth while improving productivity and extending the life of their infrastructure, often delaying or eliminating costly network upgrades. TurboGold adapts to different workloads and incorporates the ability to grow with customers' networks as new clients and servers are added.
"Stampede's continued commitment to IBM technologies is being demonstrated once again with the investment they have made in porting their TurboGold accelerator software to the z900 and S/390 platform," said Rich Lechner, vice president, eServer zSeries Marketing at IBM. "With two million Lotus Notes users depending on the mainframe to distribute time-critical information, we are always pleased when our business partners help make the operation even more efficient. The port also comes at a particularly important time as an increasing number of customers are consolidating distributed Notes servers on zSeries."
