HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 2001
Certification Signifies BMC Software's Continued Commitment to
Assuring Business Availability and Providing Quality
Products and Services to its Customers
BMC Software Inc. (NYSE:BMC), the leading provider of enterprise management, today announced that the company's Israel division has been certified by the Standards Institution of Israel as compliant with the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001. In accordance with ISO requirements, BMC Software labs in Israel have established and are implementing procedures to assure the quality of software design, development and maintenance processes, manufacturing operations and customer service. Obtaining ISO 9001 certification is a major achievement for BMC Software and demonstrates its commitment to providing customers with quality products and services. With the majority of BMC Software's INCONTROL(TM) solutions developed in Israel and sold worldwide, BMC Software customers can now be assured that these products meet top standards.
"With increasing frequency, our customers are demanding this coveted certification as a prerequisite for choosing a supplier," said David King, director of process control for BMC Software Israel. "When customers demand this certification and the supplier does not have it, the vendor must provide proof that it is able to execute its business in a way that will guarantee availability of service and quality of product. Obtaining this certification is a huge undertaking. By going through the more than year-long process to receive this certification, we at BMC Software are saying to our customers that we are committed to providing them with quality products and services."
The ISO 9001 certification will further improve the quality of leading BMC Software products developed in Israel. These include all INCONTROL(TM) for Security Management products, (CONTROL-SA(R) product lines); the Business Information Management suites (CONTROL-D(R) product lines); and the Business Integrated Scheduling products, (CONTROL-M(R) product lines, CONTROL-B(R), CONTROL-T(R), CONTROL-O(R) and CONTROL-R(R)).
This most recent certification received by BMC Software Israel expands on the ISO 9002 certification earned by the INCONTROL group in April of 1999 for the engineering and support division. Upon receiving the initial certification, BMC Software then moved forward with the lengthy process of applying for certification of the entire BMC Software Israel group.
"BMC Software is focused on constantly improving the value we provide to our customers through superior quality and design incorporated into the software creation process through the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard," said Dan Barnea, senior vice president, general manager, BMC Software Israel. "It's a significant ongoing investment to maintain the high standards required to pass the certification audits, but according to the results and the feedback we get from our customers it is well worth the effort."
The present ISO 9001 certification will last until 2003. BMC Software is required to pass a semi-annual audit by its certifying body in order to maintain the certification. The next audit is scheduled for November 2001. Other BMC Software divisions with ISO certification include its EMEA distribution center, which has ISO 9002 certification.
