NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 3, 2001

East Coast plastics processors came out in large volume for the debut of the PLASTEC East Exposition in New York City, June 5-7, 2001.

With more than 4,000 professionals in attendance, the show lived up to its billing as the East Coast's largest plastics processing trade show.

PLASTEC East's co-location with two other major design and manufacturing shows -- Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East and Atlantic Design & Manufacturing (ADM) -- brought a total of 14,000 visitors to the combination of the three shows.

"PLASTEC East was extremely successful in bringing high numbers of quality decision-makers to visit with the major companies in the market," said Diane O'Connor, director of trade shows for show organizer CANON COMMUNICATIONS LLC.

"When we announced the launch of a plastics show for the East Coast, we were confident that the show would deliver the region's major plastics processing market, and clearly it did exactly that. Future PLASTEC East shows will continue to build upon this very successful debut."

Exhibitors at PLASTEC East offered products from every category of plastics processing, including primary processing equipment, auxiliary machinery, materials, molds, and molding components. Leading exhibitors included Battenfeld of America, Boy Machines, BP Amoco Polymers, Davis Standard Corp., Engel, Milacron Inc., and Toshiba Machine Co.

Exhibitors expressed great satisfaction with the show, and most have already signed up for booth space at the 2002 show.

"PLASTEC has been busy and very successful," said Kai Jacobsen, manager of machine sales and technology for Engel. "We'll definitely continue to exhibit here in the future. The customers were very serious buyers and wanted to talk in great detail about our products. Our experience at this show is a good indicator of what is to come."

Information on PLASTEC East is available at www.plasteceast.com. A West Coast version of the event, PLASTEC West, will next take place February 5-7, 2002, at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

Produced and managed by CANON COMMUNICATIONS LLC, PLASTEC East, PLASTEC West, MD&M East, and ADM are part of CANON's worldwide family of trade events. Information on them can be found at www.canontradeshows.com, or by calling 310/445-4200.
