TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2001
Mobile Mini, Inc. (NASDAQ National Market: MINI) today announced acquisitions that give it a presence in Nashville, TN and northern California. The aggregate purchase price for the two transactions was approximately $4.9 million.
With the acquisition of certain assets from A Quik-Space Storage Container Company Incorporated, (d/b/a A Storage Container Co. of California, Inc. and A Valley Storage Container Co., Inc.), Mobile Mini can now serve the major metro areas of northern California. This market of over 10 million residents includes the San Francisco-Oakland bay area, the capital city of Sacramento, and the major growth areas of Stockton and Modesto. Its customers are in a broad range of businesses - industrial, agricultural, commercial, retail, distribution, educational institutions, health care providers, and construction. The seller will continue to operate its portable cold storage business. This branch joins Los Angeles and San Diego as Mobile Mini's third location in one of the nation's largest and most populous states.
The Nashville asset purchase was from Container Storage Rental, LLC, which, along with Memphis and Knoxville, gives Mobile Mini three branches in Tennessee. Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and an important transportation, business and tourism center. Greater Nashville comprises eight counties and is home to a rapidly growing population which topped one million in 2000. The area is a major force in domestic and international business and a recognized leader in publishing and printing, financial services, health care management, higher education, transportation, telecommunications, tourism and music and entertainment.
Steven G. Bunger, Chairman, President & CEO of Mobile Mini stated, "With these two new branches and the three acquisitions completed earlier this year, we are far along in meeting our six to twelve new branch goal for 2001. While the existing business at the new locations will enable us to avoid start-up expenses, the transformation of these branches using our business model will begin shortly. If history repeats itself, it won't be very long before we substantially build market awareness of the advantages of portable storage, and in so doing, steadily increase containers on lease."
Mobile Mini, Inc. is the nation's leading provider of portable storage solutions through its fleet of nearly 65,000 portable storage units and portable offices. The Company currently has 34 branches and operates in 18 states.
This news release contains forward-looking statements, particularly regarding operating prospects for 2001 and beyond, which involve risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those currently anticipated. Risks and uncertainties that may affect future results include those that are described from time to time in the Company's SEC filings. These forward-looking statements represent the judgment of the Company, as of the date of this release, and Mobile Mini disclaims any intent or obligation to update forward-looking statements.
