NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 1, 2001

Atlantic recording artist Rod Stewart kicks off his eagerly anticipated "HUMAN TOUR 2001" tonight at Vancouver's General Motors Place.

One of the hottest tickets of the summer concert season, the North American itinerary - Stewart's first since 1999 - follows the release earlier this year of Rod's most highly acclaimed album in 20 years, "HUMAN." The tour, which is being produced by SFX and Stiefel Entertainment, will visit amphitheatres and arenas in 42 cities from coast to coast.

"HUMAN," Stewart's first album for Atlantic, includes the hit single, "I Can't Deny It," and the new single, "Don't Come Around Here." "HUMAN" sees Stewart teaming with executive producer Rob Dickins and a host of today's hottest producers to fashion a quintessential collection of romantic R&B-infused pop. From the evocative and stirring title track to the tender grooves of "Loveless" and "Run Back Into Your Arms," the album features a number of new songs that now join the long list of great Rod Stewart performances, including "Smitten," co-written by new soul sensation Macy Gray, and the late Curtis Mayfield's "It Was Love That We Needed."

Over the course of more than three decades as a solo artist, Rod Stewart has sold 120 million records around the world. He has earned a remarkable assortment of precious metal from the RIAA, including seven gold album certifications; five platinum certifications; four double-platinum certifications; and four triple-platinum certifications; as well as four RIAA gold singles and one platinum single. In 1994, Rod Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
