MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2001

Legato Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:LGTO), a worldwide leader in enterprise storage management software, today announced the availability of Co-StandbyServer(TM) 2000 (Co-SBS 2000) for Windows 2000, a high availability solution that delivers application monitoring and switchover. Co-SBS 2000 premiers at Microsoft's Tech Ed event in Atlanta, GA, June 16 through June 20, where it is also a finalist for the Windows 2000 Magazine Best of Show Award.

"Co-StandbyServer is a well-known software solution for the Microsoft environment," said Joost Metten, Professional Services Manager for Benelux and France with Dedigate, a managed dedicated hosting provider and Legato test site for Co-StandbyServer 2000. "We couldn't find any weakness in this solution! Co-StandbyServer 2000 for Windows 2000 is for us the best clustering solution for the Microsoft environment."

In addition to continuing to provide 24X7 availability of mission critical data and application, Co-SBS 2000 for Windows 2000 has a newly enhanced mirroring engine, powerful new GUI for ease of use and intuitive application modules for proactive management of application services. The modules include Microsoft SQL 7.0 and 2000, Exchange 5.5 and IIS 5.0, supported as a network service.

"It seemed in general to be more robust and more mature than the previous 4.x versions that we have used. We experienced only positive results with Legato Co-StandbyServer 2000 during our testing, installation and operation," said Thoralf Geese, network and local IT services for ICA Informationssystem GmbH, an IBM Global Services Company in Germany. "We are especially pleased by the standard application modules that are now included in the product, the intuitive Management Console and the easy-to-use documentation."

Co-SBS's block level mirroring technology and the use of a dedicated mirroring link allows data to be written to two servers simultaneously. Unlike other solutions, such as file-level replication, this is done without adding additional traffic to the user's production network.

"Co-StandbyServer 2000 for Windows 2000 brings yet another dimension to our application availability and information protection capabilities," said George Symons, vice president, product management and development, Legato Systems, Inc. "Since its original release in 1999, Co-StandbyServer has received several industry awards acknowledging its advantages over competitor's offerings. We're pleased to be extending that competitive edge with the availability of Co-StandbyServer 2000 for Windows 2000."
