NDS Group plc (NASDAQ/NASDAQ Europe: NNDS), a News Corporation (NYSE: NWS, NWS.A) company and the leading provider of conditional access systems and interactive applications for digital TV, today announced that it has entered into strategic business alliances for NDS EZPixTV(TM) with AmazingMail, Liberate, MGI, PictureIQ, Rachis, SoftConnex, WorldGate and WolfCamera.com.
"NDS EZPixTV is just the beginning of a line of iTV applications from NDS that will enable MSOs to attract and retain subscribers and thereby improve profitability of their digital offerings," said David Schlacht, Vice President Interactive Development, NDS Americas. "U.S. MSOs have been eagerly waiting for innovative iTV applications that generate new revenue streams to support their digital cable investments. With NDS's entry into this market, the iTV business model becomes both practical and profitable."
NDS is offering the EZPixTV application to broadcasters as part of a broad-based interactive television photo service developed in conjunction with PictureVision Inc., a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company. This service offers MSOs a joint solution that enables viewers to view, share, and order digital photo reprints directly from their televisions.
Business Alliances Include:
- New Middleware Alliances: NDS has entered into a content
partnership agreement with WorldGate to integrate EZPixTV with the
WorldGate Interactive Service, which operates on CableWare(TM),
WorldGate's open-standards middleware platform. The two companies
will co-market their joint solution to MSOs.
The WorldGate partnership builds upon NDS's ongoing initiative to
integrate and co-market the application with various middleware
providers. In Fall 2000, NDS integrated the application with
Liberate's TV Platform(TM) software, jointly offering MSOs a
complete solution that can be seamlessly integrated into their
existing infrastructures.

into several partnerships with various digital photo-finishing and
fulfillment companies including AmazingMail, MGI (TSE: MGI),
PictureIQ and WolfCamera.com. These alliances enable NDS to offer
viewers exciting features, including being able to email picture
postcards and other specialty cards through AmazingMail and have
photos printed onto a variety of paraphernalia such as frames,
mugs and T-shirts through WolfCamera.com. In addition, viewers
will be able to edit their own photos using PictureIQ's
PhotoTools(TM).

SoftConnex and Rachis to develop various types of digital upload
capabilities for advanced digital set-top boxes.
