SAP (NYSE:SAP) today announced that Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ) has selected mySAP(TM) Product Lifecycle Management (mySAP PLM) as its collaborative design and engineering technology.
Compaq's implementation will involve more than 10,000 Compaq employees and partners around the world, creating the largest mySAP PLM program to date. With mySAP PLM, Compaq will leverage the technology and data necessary to create products that meet profitability requirements and satisfy customer delivery expectations. The announcement was made at SAPPHIRE(R), SAP's international e-business conference being held in Orlando, Fla., June 12-15.

Managing Change and Speeding Time to Market
Compaq required a solution that would help it handle changes to the engineering structure of products on a global scale. mySAP PLM delivers simplified business processes that Compaq will use globally to reduce the cycle time of producing new products. mySAP PLM allows concurrent, collaborative activities across many organizations and companies to manage the translation of product requirements into features and functions that can be bought or produced internally. mySAP PLM enables Compaq to centralize processes, cut technology costs and reduce the time it takes to produce new products.
