NetMotion Mobility Solution -TM- Can Help Prepare For HIPAA Security
Requirements
Datavision-Prologix, a leading systems integrator announced a new partnership with NetMotion Wireless, Inc. NetMotion's breakthrough wireless infrastructure software, NetMotion Mobility Solution (TM), will be resold as part of the comprehensive Datavision-Prologix wireless offering for the healthcare industry, including hospitals, home care agencies, physician practices and managed care facilities. Datavision-Prologix and NetMotion are jointly exhibiting at the HIPAA Summit West on June 21-22 in San Francisco.
"Security is an extremely important component of HIPAA, and particularly essential for a hospital's wireless systems," explains David Gulian, vice president of healthcare at Datavision-Prologix. "Because NetMotion makes wireless networking reliable and provides security to sensitive information, our customers and their patients will benefit from the software's capabilities. As the healthcare industry becomes increasingly reliant on technology, Datavision-Prologix has sought out partners like NetMotion to ensure that healthcare organizations with wireless components achieve the best return on their investment," Gulian adds.
NetMotion is part of the complete package of security solutions Datavision-Prologix offers its customers, including hundreds of hospitals and healthcare networks nationwide. As a systems integrator and provider of wireless computing solutions, the company assesses an organization's needs, and then recommends the type of wireless products and services that might be beneficial. In conjunction with their healthcare partners, Datavision-Prologix offers point-of-care applications, including bedside registration, medication management, nurse charting & assessment, computerized physician order entry, in addition to inventory control and materials management. The company was recently named to the Healthcare Informatics 100 as a leading healthcare IT company in the industry.
Solutions for HIPAA
The NetMotion Mobility Solution provides hospitals with secure wireless networks, which will be mandated by HIPAA security standards. "Our partnership will help to provide new and existing Datavision-Prologix customers solutions to their wireless networking security needs," said Shelly Julien, Vice President of Marketing at NetMotion. "Datavision-Prologix is unique because they offer a complete range of services from consulting to integration and training, providing real value for their customers."
NetMotion recently signed an agreement with St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. At this facility, the NetMotion Mobility Solution provides a secure environment for wireless transactions, encrypting confidential medical data from a wireless device through the airwaves to the NetMotion server. NetMotion also gives St. Luke's caregivers access to the entire network after logging in once, even if healthcare professionals are in different buildings or areas of the facility. The solution offers session persistence for continuous connectivity to applications without loss of data, and because the application is transparent, users may not realize its presence, even while benefiting from its security features. NetMotion Mobility Solution, version 2.1, was the winner in the Network Security category of the Best of Show Awards competition at NetWorld Interop 2001 Las Vegas.
