ServicePoint(TM) Now Enables Users to Identify Top Talkers by Name

and Includes a 56/64K Offering

ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multiservice networks, today announced the availability of a new version of its ServicePoint System which enhances enterprise users ability to manage and control application performance and better manage WAN resources and costs. This new version includes new functionality that allows users to identify top talkers by name - not just IP addresses. Also included with this release is the addition of a 56/64K product, ServicePoint 1040 SDU (Service Delivery Units).

"Adding capabilities increases the value we bring to our ServicePoint customers, and reinforces ADC's commitment to providing enterprise users active control of their applications performance and WAN resources at a higher adoption cost," said Clyde Jenkins, vice president and general manager of ADC's Access Products Division. "Furthermore, the expansion of the ServicePoint family is exciting because it gives users the flexibility to choose the right solution for any type of network environment."

The ServicePoint System includes ServicePoint Manager Software and ServicePoint SDUs. Collectively, these components along with new powerful capabilities raise Frame Relay management to a whole new level for end users.

Top Talkers/Listeners

With ServicePoint's new "Top Talker/Listener" feature, IT Managers can now identify who uses the most bandwidth. This information can then be used to make important business decisions regarding WAN resources and network planning. Typically a "Top Talker" feature identifies which Internet Protocol (IP) host address is generating the most traffic and whether bandwidth is being used for essential business activities or Web browsing. The problem with tracking by IP host address is that, in many business networks, IP addresses are assigned dynamically which makes matching the network address and user name a time consuming chore. ServicePoint's "Top Talker/Listener" feature allows the IT manager to track Internet usage and quickly identify top talker/listeners by user name.

Pricing and Availability

ServicePoint 56K/64K products are currently available with price points between $795 and $3,195. The ServicePoint family consists of a combination of hardware and software products, including Service Delivery Units, ServicePoint Configurator and the comprehensive ServicePoint Manager management and reporting system. Baseline software included in all SDUs provides standard DSU functionality, plus embedded SNMP agent, Ethernet management, user-friendly front panel and diagnostic LEDs.
