ACCSI implements six NetScreen-1000 Internet security systems
to provide firewall and virtual private network functions
at its Taiwan sites
NetScreen Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of ASIC-based Internet security systems and appliances, today announced that Acer CyberCenter Services Inc. (ACCSI), an Internet data center (IDC) service provider and a subsidiary of the Acer Group, has implemented six NetScreen-1000s to provide firewall services to its customers and to establish a high-speed VPN between its Taiwan locations.
The NetScreen-1000, designed to meet the needs of the most demanding IDCs, was the only offering that could satisfy ACCSI's requirements for an integrated firewall and VPN device that operated at gigabit speed.
According to the Internet Research Group, the global IDC market is expected to reach US$25 billion in 2004. ACCSI deploys integrated hardware and managed software solutions to provide its enterprise customers with web-hosting, complex enterprise Internet hosting, storage and back-up services, and multi-media content delivery and distribution.
"To meet our goal of being the largest data center in Taiwan and the Greater China region, and the number one choice for mission-critical enterprises, we need to put our customers' requirements first," said Simon Chang, President of ACCSI. "Since our customers are primarily concerned with security issues, the selection of the market-leading high-performance security system from NetScreen assures them that their highly valuable and confidential data is safe with us."
The NetScreen-1000's advanced firewall functionality plays a critical role at the network gateways because they are the first point of protection providing a "gate keeper" function to safeguard the network. ACCSI also took advantage of the NetScreen-1000's scalability and high-speed VPN capabilities to establish secure network connectivity between its sites in Taiwan.
"ACCSI's deployment of NetScreen's technology in such a large site is testimony to the strength of our data center security solutions and dedicated service team," said Hansen Chang, NetScreen's managing director of the Asia Pacific region. "ACCSI is clearly one of the leading providers of outsourced network services, and we're pleased to be able to partner with them to provide the highest levels of security for their customers."
"NetScreen simply stands out amongst its competitors in terms of performance, functionality, and ease of implementation. The NetScreen-1000 showed no hazards or problems integrating with our systems, and its performance on scalability and flexibility is very satisfactory," said Simon Chang.
The NetScreen-1000 Gigabit Security System is designed with the needs of high-bandwidth, high-capacity environments such as e-business sites, web hosting facilities and Internet data centers in mind, and can handle the growing need for a highly scalable system with high availability. The NetScreen-1000 was the first full-featured security system to support gigabit stateful inspection firewall and 3DES IPSec VPN performance.
