Payment Solutions
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced it has signed partnership agreements with iPIN (tm) and MoreMagic Software to create a comprehensive mobile commerce solution that will open new revenue streams for mobile Internet service providers.
Lucent will integrate its Kenan (r) 3G Mobile Software with iPIN's Payment Platform and MoreMagic's Mbroker (tm) software to give mobile operators a choice of secure ways for their customers to purchase goods and services over the Internet using a variety of mobile devices.
"Our partnerships with iPIN and MoreMagic form a key part of the Kenan 3G Mobile Software solution," said Robert Kiburz, general manager of Lucent's e-Services Group billing and customer care unit. "Mobile operators need comprehensive billing and customer care capabilities to stay competitive and to gain and retain profitable customers. These proven, flexible software applications will enable carriers to maximize revenue opportunities now and enable future growth."
Service providers can use either iPIN or MoreMagic software in conjunction with the Kenan 3G Mobile Software to offer mobile customers prepaid and postpaid purchase options that support real-time online transactions. Customers can authorize payment through their phone accounts, bank accounts, debit or credit cards, electronic wallets or prepaid phone cards.
This comprehensive payment and billing solution supports multiple network types, access devices, subscriber services and methods of payment. It also allows mobile operators to bill for services based on a variety of criteria including the type of transaction, content, the location of the user or other information.
In addition to the ability to rate and bill for a wide range of IP-based services, the Kenan 3G Mobile Software solution also provides 3G network provisioning and advanced IP-based network mediation.
