MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2001
Managed Objects, a Business Service Management company, today announced that Reuters, the global information, news and technology group, has deployed Formula software as the Business Service Management platform to support its global operations.
With Formula, Reuters gains an end-to-end view of its delivery services from network connectivity to the customer site. This enables Reuters to ensure a high level of integrity around its key services.
Formula was deployed over a three-week period for use by Reuters staff in New York, Geneva, London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore. According to Andrew Cunningham, Manager, ASP Management Systems at Reuters, "Formula gave us the 'big picture' perspective we needed, whilst building on our investment in other tools. By understanding how our resources are working to deliver service, we can resolve problems earlier, reducing the impact on our customers and the need for site visits, and yielding time and cost savings."
Formula's Business Service Views(TM) will enable Reuters to visualize service delivery. These views are fueled by data from Reuters' existing management tools. Formula integrates their data, interprets the relationship between that data and the business processes it impacts - and then intuitively presents the information.
Using Formula's sophisticated Web client or customizable Service Management Portals(TM), Reuters staff can securely access the information they need to ensure service delivery is meeting expectations.
"We can tailor Business Service Views to the needs and responsibilities of a particular user or local data centre," said Cunningham. "Our support staff can access granular device or alarm information, and management can view the high-level status of key services.
More than a presentation layer, Formula also provides complete bi-directional access to underlying tools' features and functionality. Siki Giunta, Managed Objects' president and chief executive officer, notes, "Reuters support staff can access underlying tools' commands and functions - without leaving the Formula platform. That way, staff only need expertise on one tool, instead of all the different tools that lie underneath."
