The 3rd Annual Country Music Marathon(TM) will feature a new half marathon when it returns to Nashville on Saturday, April 27, 2002, announced Elite Racing, Inc., producer of the event. The 13.1-mile race will follow a similar course as the marathon, starting at West End Avenue near Centennial Park, winding its way in and out of the downtown area and finishing at Adelphia Coliseum, home of the Tennessee Titans.

Country Music 1/2 Marathoners will enjoy all the fun of the full marathon, with live bands and local high school cheerleading squads stationed approximately each mile of the route. After the race, all participants will be treated to an evening concert featuring a premier headliner at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

"By adding a half marathon to this event, we are offering something for everyone," said Adam Zocks, general manager of the Country Music Marathon. "We now have a solution for runners and walkers that want to come to Music City, but are not ready to complete a full 26.2 miles."

The Country Music 1/2 Marathon will be limited to 7,500 runners. Marathon officials have capped the total combined number of entries to 17,500 - including a significant percentage reserved for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training participants. In just two years, Team In Training participants at the Country Music Marathon have raised over $5 million for the Society.

To register for the race visit www.CMMarathon.com or contact the Country Music Marathon at 240 Great Circle Rd., Ste. 340, Nashville, TN 37228. For more information call 615/742-1660.
