Delivers Reliable, Browser-based Data and Storage Management
CommVault Systems Inc, today announced the availability of the CommVault(R) Galaxy(tm) data and storage management software solution for EMC(R) (NYSE: EMC) CLARiiON(R) Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems. The qualification of CommVault Galaxy software with EMC CLARiiON(R) IP4700 networked storage systems offers customers a pre-tested, easy-to-use, data protection solution that scales to handle multiple terabytes of capacity, delivering lower administration cost, significantly better access to application data and drastically improved backup and recovery flexibility. Based on the industry-standard Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP), CommVault Galaxy offers customers a single solution for managing Microsoft(R) Windows(R) and UNIX(R) backup and recovery from an intuitive browser-based interface.
CommVault Galaxy software provides customers with fast, reliable protection of heterogeneous data residing on EMC CLARiiON IP4700 networked storage systems. The CommVault Galaxy solution also delivers enhanced media management that allows customers to better leverage their investment by configuring libraries to be shared between EMC CLARiiON IP4700s and other servers.
"Through the EMC E-Infostructure(tm) Developers Program, CommVault has leveraged features of EMC's advanced storage technology to deliver complementary solutions that provide enterprise-class reliability and performance for our customers," said Linda Wright, Senior Director of Global Alliances, EMC. "CommVault's qualification of its Galaxy software with the CLARiiON IP4700 supports EMC's commitment to provide customers with a leading networked storage architecture."
From Galaxy's Java-based unified console, administrators can simultaneously set storage policies, monitor events, and seamlessly enhance the availability of critical business information on EMC CLARiiON IP4700s, without the need for separate 'bolt-on' options or the need to tab between screens or interfaces. As a result, the blend of EMC CLARiiON IP4700 storage system and the CommVault Galaxy solution is much easier to use, requires less training, offers better performance and improves application data availability. "CommVault's continued technical efforts and developments through EMC's E-Infostructure Developers Program has enabled us to deliver advanced data and storage management solutions to our mutual customers," said Anand Prahlad, vice president of product development, CommVault Systems. "CommVault's qualification of Galaxy for the EMC CLARiiON IP4700 enables us to provide seamless core-to-edge storage infrastructure backup and recovery solutions for UNIX and Microsoft servers."
