Ipswitch, Inc., a leading supplier of Internet productivity software, today announced the release of IMail Server 7.0 for Windows NT/2000. Building on its core features of remote administration, anti-spamming support, Web Messaging and security, IMail Server 7.0 offers new Web Calendaring which provides one of the most popular groupware features without the added complexity of groupware. In addition, new SSL authentication policies create a more secure method of sending and receiving e-mail and enhanced Web Messaging provides administrators the ability to view real-time server activity, cutting down on spam and enhancing capacity planning.

Businesses increase efficiency, save time with Web Calendaring

Web Calendaring in IMail Server 7.0 expands the power of an already versatile e-mail server. IMail Server users are now able to manage and keep track of their schedules. One convenience includes the ability to automatically invite attendees to a meeting through an e-mail message. Once the meeting has been scheduled, IMail Server can schedule an e-mail reminder to go out automatically to attendees. Since Web Calendaring e-mail is based on the iCal standard, it allows users to import and export information to any standards-based client, and recipients can then import the information directly into their calendars and PDAs.

Users can also utilize Web Calendaring to schedule reminders for important dates and events such as meetings and appointments or even birthdays and anniversaries. A search function enables users to look up an event by name if they are unsure of its date and time. The calendaring function is accessible remotely through any Web browser, which is especially attractive to telecommuters and mobile workforces.

Greater security with flexible security levels, smoother service via real-time statistics

Administrators can provide greater system security since they have more flexibility in managing user security levels. Administrators can either compel users to connect using SSL, giving users the option to use SSL or not providing the option at all. For added security, IMail Server can temporarily suspend a user if a login fails too many times.

New real-time statistics and user information in Web Messaging help administrators monitor IMail Server usage and enforce usage policies. Administrators can now view system statistics, such as the number of users logged in and amount of data sent and received, allowing them to quickly pinpoint and troubleshoot issues. Monitoring server traffic also allows administrators to significantly reduce the amount of spam sent to users since administrators can deny access to someone they see sending a large amount of e-mail to the server.

Updated Web interface includes spell-check

IMail Server also has an updated, more intuitive Web interface which makes it more versatile that ever. The product is easier to navigate and administrators save time since they do not have to customize interfaces to make them more aesthetically pleasing for users. Web Messaging now includes the ability to spell-check messages. Administrators can provide global dictionaries and users can have their own customized dictionaries.

Administrators continue to have the ability to localize IMail Server into numerous languages which is especially attractive to international users. Using IMail Server's template gallery, users can exchange customized templates, already available in German, Spanish, French, Japanese and Korean, to further enhance their use of the product according to their particular specifications.
