Telcordia Integrated Operations Infrastructure Significantly Improves
Operational Efficiency, Speeds Time to Market
SUPERCOMM 2001 Booth #4747/4847
Communications software and solutions provider Telcordia Technologies, Inc. today announced the Telcordia(TM) Integrated Operations Infrastructure, an enabling software solutions platform for operations support systems (OSS), which will support a broad array of services over a variety of networks.
Communications service providers will use solutions built on this integrated Infrastructure to support next generation multimedia services, including voice, data and video, that will be provided over wireline and wireless broadband networks.
"We are helping our global customers achieve operational excellence by simplifying the complexities of the current OSS environment," said Jerry Roberto, executive vice president, Telcordia Technologies. "The new Telcordia Infrastructure will enable our customers to improve solutions delivery, increase efficiency and deliver converged services."
The Infrastructure supports pre-integrated solutions, the first of which will be The Telcordia(TM) High Speed Data Operations solution, scheduled for first customer shipment in September 2001. This solution supports ATM, ADSL and Frame Relay services. Additional pre-integrated solutions will support Managed IP services, SONET/SDH and Optical Network Management, which will be available within the next year.
"Historically, service providers have used a best-of-breed approach in implementing the OSS required to address their end-to-end business processes, usually resulting in time consuming and expensive integration efforts that often fell short of business expectations," said Karl Whitelock, Stratecast Partners OSS program director. "The Telcordia Integrated Operations Infrastructure is a clear example of how software vendors must provide OSS solutions that address end-to-end business problems at the data, operations architecture and functional application levels."
The Infrastructure streamlines service provider operations by extending the following features:
- One Network Database - making information management easy and efficient and resulting in better data integrity, increased flow-through and reduced data management costs. - One Network GUI - delivering a powerful new JAVA(R) compliant Graphical User Interface to optimize network management tasks and to replace multiple GUI's for each individual OSS. - One Network Interface -- reducing costs and eliminating operational bottlenecks by providing a standards-based interface for OSS solutions to communicate with network elements and the Element Management System (EMS) for configuration, fault management and performance management optimization. - One Security Logon - simplifying ease-of-use, improving security and administration and complimenting existing enterprise-wide security procedures by allowing users to log into OSS solutions once, eliminating the requirement for multiple application logons. - One Software Installation - lowering administration and operations costs by providing a single shared software installation process for multiple OSS applications. - One Computing Platform -- eliminating the need to manage and maintain multiple proprietary platforms by providing a standard, UNIX-based, operating environment. An Oracle(R) DBMS increases flow-through and offers a single network view while lowering network integration costs and simplifying operations. The platform provides software version management, simplifying system management and promoting network reliability.
