BindView Corporation (NASDAQ: BVEW), a leading provider of IT administration and security management solutions, announced today an initiative that provides advanced solutions for Group Policy management within the Active Directory environment. While Group Policy features within the Windows 2000 environment enable network administrators to more effectively manage their IT infrastructure and directory, it is essential that these policies be thoroughly assessed, audited and administered. Leveraging its expertise in vulnerability assessment and directory management, BindView is launching product solutions focused on Group Policy management. In addition, the company is offering a series of ongoing education and training forums, including Webinars, national seminars and white papers to address the unique group policy administrative and security configuration needs of Active Directory administrators.
The first phase of this program includes the introduction of bv-Control for Active Directory v3, the only solution available today that can assess vulnerabilities and administer Group Policies. It also includes the Webinar "Understanding and Managing the Security Configuration of Your Group Policy" that will be hosted by BindView's Active Directory expert and Group Policy expert Jeremy Moskowitz.
"Companies implementing Windows 2000 and Active Directory are faced with new security challenges in managing their networks and applications," said David Ferris, president of Ferris Research. "Solutions such as BindView's bv-Control for Active Directory v3 help network administrators rapidly assess vulnerabilities and manage group policy to keep users productive while maintaining security."
The bv-Control for Active Directory v3 Product
The bv-Control for Active Directory v3 product offers the most advanced management solution for Active Directory and provides security and configuration management capabilities. As part of BindView's Group Policy Management Initiative, the bv-Control for Active Directory v3 product provides features that enable policy compliance, policy validation and policy enforcement of the security configurations for Group Policies from a centralized location.
Additional features of the bv-Control for Active Directory v3 product include:
--Comprehensive Security Assessment. The bv-Control for Active Directory v3 allows a network administer to collect information on the Active Directory environment and to then immediately assess and identify corporate security policy discrepancies.
--Extensive Post-Migration Assessment. BindView's solution provides comprehensive post-migration management by verifying user and group objects, security settings and group memberships in the Windows 2000 and Active Directory environment.
--Analysis of Directory Configuration Information. BindView's solution conducts detailed audits that enhance network and directory security and reduce the risks and costs associated with security configuration and administration of Active Directory.
The bv-Control for Active Directory v3 product will be demonstrated at BindView's Booth #301 at the Microsoft TechEd conference June 17-21, 2001 in Atlanta. The solution will be available for general availability in Q3 2001.
