SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001
Semio Corporation, the leading provider of content categorization software, today announced the signing of several purchase contracts with Federal government agencies and their support contractors - giving Semio a strong foothold in the multi-billion dollar government sector. Customers include Mitretek, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Lawrence Livermore Labs, and the Mitre Corporation. Partners include Lockheed Martin, SRA International, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Project Performance Corporation (PPC).
Semio's government customers have selected Semio Tagger, a content categorization software that organizes vast amounts of data by automatically finding conceptual and practical relationships between any digital document stored in a repository. Government users can now find the right information, and in the right context. Moreover, Semio's technology can be integrated easily into web applications and portals, making it the solution of choice for government agencies. "The volume of data that is stored in government repositories is immense, and it can be incredibly valuable information when it is organized and structured so that companies can use it," said Roger Heule, vice president of sales and business development at Semio Corporation. "The fact that so many different government agencies have all chosen Semio's taxonomy software validates the fact that our patented technology for identifying and categorizing key concepts buried in vast amounts of text is a dramatic improvement over traditional artificial intelligence approaches, neural networks or keyword index technologies."
"Finding a cost-effective technology that was able to categorize enormous amounts of information and make it easily accessible to end users was a real challenge" according to Rich Barkley, Solutions Program Manager, Lockheed Martin. "Semio's ability to give us a dynamic taxonomy engine that readily integrated into our process flows has provided us a market edge as we roll out ACE, our enterprise information portal solution offering."
