OC Systems Joins Forte(TM) for Java(TM) Extension Partners Program

OC Systems, Inc. today announced that it has joined the growing number of tool vendors building extensions to Sun Microsystems' Forte(TM) for Java(TM) integrated development environment (IDE).

OC Systems' RootCause(TM) will be available as a plug-in module for the Forte for Java product, allowing developers to more quickly identify the source of bugs and other problems, often from a single occurrence.

RootCause acts as a "flight recorder," continually recording data about a program's execution while the application runs. When a problem or failure occurs, the information that has been collected is transmitted to developers or support staff via e-mail or FTP.

Engineers can read the trace file, stepping backwards and forwards through the operations that led up to the problem, and identify the root cause.

"Java technology has moved beyond its 'write once run anywhere' capability to support 24/7 high-reliability enterprise systems," said Oliver Cole, president of OC Systems. "By tracing all the processes in a system, both Java and non-Java technology, RootCause provides the information needed to quickly pinpoint the cause of a problem, speeding resolution, reducing downtime and lowering support costs. In addition, it improves the ability of system integrators, value-added resellers and service providers to support Java applications."

"Maintaining the high levels of availability demanded of enterprise applications can be very labor intensive," said David Taber, director of portal and business development, Forte Tools, Sun Microsystems. "Tools like RootCause are critical to building sound applications because they help Java technology developers to quickly troubleshoot and isolate problems, improving availability while controlling costs. We are very pleased that this innovative technology will be available to the Forte for Java community."

OC Systems, Inc. provides state-of-the-art software tools, development environments, and services that maximize software quality and application availability to companies that are developing and maintaining e-business and other mission-critical systems.
