Product to help lab testers cut test cycles and
increase lab capacity
Tekelec (Nasdaq:TKLC) announced today the addition of an automated testing solution to its Message Generator Traffic Simulator (MGTS(R)) diagnostic product line.
With Tekelec's MGTS Test Automation software product, engineers can preprogram and automatically run tests for telecommunications equipment manufacturers and service providers. The solution increases test capacity and decreases test time, shortening development cycles, reducing staffing requirements, and expanding overall lab capability.
"Equipment manufacturers and telecommunications service providers are competing to bring quality products and services to market first," said David Cox, vice president of marketing for the Tekelec Network Diagnostics Division. "The MGTS test automation product will help manufacturers and service providers cut time-to-market cycles--for a significant cost savings-- and get a jump on the competition. We are excited to bring this powerful and unique solution to the marketplace."
Cox continues, "In the past, test engineers were required to manually build and run test cases. Testers had to stop after each step to interpret results and design the next series of tests. Each test required constant supervision. With the MGTS test automation solution, designing, testing, and integrating new products and services in converged telephony and Internet networks is faster and more cost effective than ever before."
The new solution has been put into operation internally and is benefiting the Tekelec Network Systems Division. Richard Laurent, senior manager of test for Tekelec, explains, "We deployed the automation tool in the lab to perform conformance tests of a product line. Tests that previously required supervision of a highly skilled test engineer over a two-week period were completed in four hours--without supervision. We plan to expand our use of the tool to include regression, performance, and load testing for all product lines. With the shortened test cycles, MGTS Test Automation is helping us remain competitive while saving costs."
The test automation software enables engineers to set up and save predefined test cases. The MGTS test automation software provisions, runs, and interprets the tests automatically. It tests any device under test or network element. With the Tekelec solution, companies are able to utilize testing labs during second and third shifts, dramatically increasing test capacity, reducing staff requirements, and decreasing costs. Because more equipment can be tested in less time, test automation users are able to bring products to market quicker.
Part of Tekelec's VELOSITY diagnostic solutions family, MGTS is an advanced testing product line for research and development laboratories. It provides integration, systems, and field deployment testing.
