Sonic Software Continues Commitment to Open Standards for Building
Extended Enterprise Applications with Message-Oriented-Middleware
Sonic Software Corporation, the leader in e-business messaging (EBM) software and services, today announced that it has entered into a relationship with Sun Microsystems(TM) to become the newest licensee of the Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE(TM)) technology. SonicMQ is the first Java(TM) Message Service (JMS(TM)) product architected entirely on Java technology to become compatible with the J2EE platform. Sonic Software is exhibiting this week at Sun's Worldwide JavaOne Developer Conference in booth #1621.
"J2EE is the de facto standard for enterprise software development, and Sonic Software offers a J2EE compatible product," said Greg O'Connor, president of Sonic Software. "We passed the Compatibility Test Suite in two days. Becoming the first JMS standard-based product written entirely in the Java(TM) programming language to achieve J2EE compatibility highlights our commitment to bring best-of-breed Java technology-based solutions to today's extended enterprises. Beginning this summer and continuing over the next three years, we will be working closely with Sun to develop and present a strategic Web seminar series advocating the value of JMS as the foundation for enterprise messaging and Web services."
"By passing Sun's rigorous J2EE Compatibility Test Suite, Sonic Software gives end-user customers a faster time to market, portability and simplified interoperability to existing applications," said Rich Green, vice president and general manager, Java Software, Sun Microsystems. "In today's extended enterprises, the value of an industrial-strength messaging infrastructure built on open standards is extremely high. Sonic Software offers a flexible, standards-based solution that provides its end users, customers and strategic partners with the necessary tools to keep up with their ever-changing business requirements."
The SonicMQ E-Business Messaging Server provides highly scalable, standards-based Internet middleware that enables the guaranteed and secure delivery of business-critical data between applications across the distributed enterprise or among companies for B2B exchange. SonicMQ is today's leading vendor of technology based on the Java Message Service (JMS) standard, and licenses its technology to some of the industry's largest J2EE technology-based application server vendors, including Hewlett-Packard Company and IONA. SonicMQ has also been selected as the JMS-based messaging infrastructure of choice for some of today's most demanding messaging environments such as Commerce One's MarketSite(TM), the e-marketplace operating environment, and GE Global Exchange Services' integration solutions.
"By integrating SonicMQ as the messaging foundation for MarketSite, we can offer customers the guaranteed delivery and processing of transactions running through private or public e-marketplaces," said Jim Obsitnik, director of product marketing for Commerce One. "SonicMQ's open infrastructure based on J2EE standards is critical in providing our customers with secure, reliable delivery of xCBL documents over various platforms including Sun Solaris."
"Sonic's integration with Commerce One's MarketSite is of particular significance, and we believe it creates the visibility leading to the mainstreaming of JMS as a viable platform for building and deploying applications across the extended enterprise," continued Rich Green.
By delivering J2EE compatible products, Sonic Software gives end-user customers a faster time to market, ensures portability and simplifies interoperability among existing applications. J2EE compatibility is just one more example of Sonic Software's dedication to open standards.
