GO-Global:UX2 Delivers New Levels of Speed, Performance,
Fault Tolerance, Scalability, Usability, and 168-bit Security
GraphOn(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: GOJO) (http://GO.GraphOn.com), a leading developer of Web-enabling technologies, today launched a downloadable public beta of GO-Global:UX2, which includes major advancements of its highly popular software for Web-enabling UNIX applications.
With GO-Global:UX2, UNIX applications are instantly Web-enabled, allowing the most complex applications to be run from any browser from any location within the enterprise or over the Internet. The key features (listed below) and improved performance of GO-Global:UX2 provide software vendors with significant competitive advantages and allow enterprises worldwide to lower the cost of managing and running their UNIX applications. The public beta of GO-Global:UX2 can be downloaded from http://beta.GraphOn.com.
GraphOn is supporting UNIX software vendors and systems administrators with a comprehensive beta program including online resources for technical information and forums. GraphOn will feature selected UNIX applications Web-enabled with GO-Global:UX2 on its Web site and will webcast interviews with the applications' developers as part of the international rollout of the final product.
When compared to its predecessor, GO-Global:UX2 boosts UNIX application performance by 50 percent overall and as much as 100 percent when used with a Java client. GO-Global:UX2 leverages the power of the server to virtually eliminate any load on the desktop, offering the best thin client, low bandwidth software solution on the market for running UNIX applications over any connection from any Windows PC, Java device, or browser.
"There is a huge installed base of business-critical UNIX applications that urgently need to be freed from the restraints of proprietary architectures," said GO-Global:UX General Manager Tina Anderson. "By participating in our early-access program for GO-Global:UX, UNIX system administrators and software vendors can instantly bring their applications to the Web, allowing them to focus on application functionality and features. It's a very compelling business model, and we look forward to building many more enterprise and software vendor partnerships as a result of this beta program."
GraphOn's GO-Global:UX2 answers the growing need for companies to better manage their computing infrastructure and reduce total cost of ownership by offering truly affordable global access to UNIX applications from low-cost Windows PCs or Java devices over low-bandwidth dial-up lines, over the Internet or network connections. While some applications have added HTML front-ends to run on the Web, this typically changes their appearance and the way employees interact with the applications. GraphOn's GO-Global:UX2 eliminates any need to retrain employees because it Web-enables UNIX applications while fully retaining the applications' look, feel and functionality.
New Features Included in GO-Global:UX2
SUSPEND-AND-RESUME: When users lose connectivity or just want to suspend their computing session, they may later resume their session instantly without having to restart applications. This feature allows mobile users to suspend their activity in one location and pick up where they left off, even from another location with a different computer. Data does not get lost even though the connection is broken, since the server maintains the integrity of the information.
ADAPTIVE PROTOCOL: GO-Global:UX2 protocol automatically detects connection rates and latency and dynamically adapts to achieve the best performance over a LAN, WAN or dial-up.
APPLICATION PUBLISHING: With GO-Global:UX2, UNIX applications can now be opened by just clicking a desktop icon or Web page URL. Further, there is no need to retrain users since the UNIX applications appear and operate as any PC application would on the desktop.
WEB-BASED INSTALLER: The GO-Global client (desktop component) can be distributed and installed over the Web from a centralized server. This feature provides scalability and convenience in a multi-user environment, eliminating the need to visit every desktop to install the software and saving precious labor costs and time.
HTTP CLIENT PROXY: GO-Global:UX2 software recognizes proxy servers and will utilize proxy servers when necessary to establish client/server connections.
FLEXlm LICENSING: GO-Global:UX2 supports the industry standard FLEXlm enterprise license manager for easy integration into existing enterprise computing environments. This feature saves cost and management time through centralized license tracking and inventory control.
FILE TRANSFER: GO-Global:UX2 makes exchanging files between desktop and server easy by presenting users with a familiar graphical interface to save and retrieve files, eliminating the need for specific FTP access privileges.
