SAVVIS Installing and Managing First Public Network

Access Point in Brazil, the Second Largest Economy in the

Americas, to create first Brazilian "network of networks"

SAVVIS Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a premier global network services provider and the #1 performing Internet backbone*, today announced that Abranet, a consortium of Brazilian ASPs, ISPs and Internet Carriers, has selected SAVVIS to build and operate their first private Network Access Point (NAP) in Brazil and to provide peering between them.

The installation of this NAP in Sao Paolo will effectively link the consortium of 250 providers, to create Brazil's first true "network of networks." This consortium currently delivers 6.1 Gigabits or 85% of all the data traffic in Brazil. Connecting to SAVVIS' industry-leading Internet backbone will also improve the speed and quality of Brazilian Internet service and provide high-performance access to global markets.

"Abranet is dedicated to the creation of a truly public Internet in Brazil, so that more Brazilians and non-Brazilians alike can benefit from Internet usage," says Roque Abbo, president of Abranet. "With SAVVIS as our technology partner, we can provision superior Internet services for all of Brazil, and establish the Internet's credibility as a reliable tool for Brazilian businesses." Mr. Abbo added that Abranet anticipates that it will deploy additional NAPs in Rio, Brasilia and Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Bandwidth consumption by Brazilian corporations will double over the next two years, according to a report, "Brazilian Corporate Networks Demand Assessment," by The Yankee Group. Yankee Group predicts that total Internet usage in Brazil will grow to 275 Gigabits in year 2005.

Until now, the development of the Internet in Brazil has been held back by shortcomings in Brazil's telecommunications infrastructure and existing state monopolies on Internet provision business. In addition, access to the Brazilian Internet has been highly restricted, and issues relating to the speed and quality of Internet connections within the country and to bottlenecks in international connections have discouraged widespread Internet usage in the Brazilian business community.

"The deployment of this NAP is a tremendous technological leap forward for the Brazilian Internet, and effectively adds an important PrivateNAP(SM) in Latin America to the SAVVIS network. Abranet selected SAVVIS because of the proven superiority of our network architecture and expertise managing multiple PrivateNAPs(SM) around the world, and we are honored to participate in such an important initiative," said Rob McCormick, chief executive officer of SAVVIS. "Moreover, our peering relationships with the consortium members will give SAVVIS the opportunity to merchandise our Intelligent IP networking(SM) services to businesses throughout the country."

SAVVIS' extensive IP Network is one of the largest in the world, and its superior PrivateNAP(SM) architecture has made SAVVIS the industry leader in fastest download times with the lowest packet loss for Internet access. In addition, SAVVIS supports multiple Quality of Service (QoS) levels through its ATM backbone network, combined with providing network-based private extranet and intranet solutions via its Intelligent IP platform.
