LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 6, 2001

Have you always wanted to drive a Porsche? How about a Porsche that once belonged to Robert Downey, Jr.?

If this has been a dream of yours, or if you're the least bit intrigued, go to www.bidz.com, where Robert Downey Jr.'s Porsche is being auctioned on-line through June 16 at 3 p.m. Eastern time when the highest bidder will be the new owner of this very rare automobile. Bidding started earlier today at $1, and already some 11 bids have been entered with $2,501 being the winning bid at approximately 10 a.m. Eastern Time June 6. There is no reserve on the price for which the car will finally be sold. Whoever has the highest bid on June 16 at 3 p.m. Eastern time will be the new owner of the car.

The 1958 silver gray Porsche speedster has been authenticated by the pink sheet as being the car previously owned by Robert Downey Jr. Some $10,000 was previously spent on the interior and engine of the car and the car still has its original paint. The Porsche is the first of what is expected to be several automobiles that will be available for auction on the BidZ.com site.

BidZ.com is one of the most popular on-line auction sites with some 3.7 million unique users. David Zinberg, founder and president of BidZ.com notes that the site is a true auction and not a retail operation hidden as an auction site. He points to the fact that many auction sites are in reality retail e-commerce sites where bidding either starts at such a high point that the average person is prohibited from participating, or where there is a reserve price at which the item must be sold or it doesn't get sold at all. At BidZ.com, if the final bid is $1, then the item sells for $1. And, BidZ.com authenticates its items and stands by each item with its own personal guarantee. Zinberg is able to do this because all items on the site are put there by BidZ.com, not by other participants of the online community, which is common in many other on-line "auction" sites.

In addition to the cars available on the site, BidZ.com carries an extensive selection of fine jewelry that has retail prices in the thousands of dollars. Winning bids for these items are normally in the hundreds of dollars, representing huge savings to the on-line bidders.
