VALLEY VIEW, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2001

GELcore, LLC announces the introduction of its GE LED System for channel letter illumination.

GELcore's patent pending design combines high brightness LED technology with the flexibility of wire to provide a system that is installation friendly and delivers uniform illumination.

Similar to GE LED Signals, this high efficiency LED system delivers a rapid return on investment resulting from lower operating and maintenance costs to sign companies, maintenance contractors and end users. At less than one watt per lineal foot, the GE LED system will deliver up to 90% in energy savings compared to equivalent lengths of red neon.

"Neon has been relatively unchallenged until now," said Michael B. Petras Jr., President and CEO of GELcore. "Our goal was to harness all the benefits of LED technology and enable it in a useable form."

This low voltage and environment-friendly alternative to neon is designed for easy installation for new construction and retrofit of existing signage. The robust GE LED System eliminates the worries associated with the shipping and handling of fragile neon. GELcore will have samples available in June with production to follow in Summer, 2001.

GELcore, LLC is a joint venture of General Electric Company and EMCORE Corporation. GELcore is dedicated to developing innovative LED systems for lighting applications.
