HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2001
WebSphere Solutions Enable Customers to Monitor and
Prevent Web Application Problems and Manage Performance of
Mission-Critical e-Commerce B2B Applications
BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq:BMCS), the leading provider of e-business systems management, today announced a series of solutions designed to offer support for IBM(R)'s WebSphere e-Business solution set. Included in the complete solution offering are: PATROL(R) for IBM WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition, its new monitoring and management tool for users of IBM's WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition and PATROL for IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro Edition, designed to manage server-side availability and performance of mission critical business-to-business (B2B) e-Commerce applications deployed on IBM's WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro Edition. PATROL for IBM WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition is currently available, while PATROL for IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro Edition will be available during the third quarter of 2001.
PATROL for WebSphere ensures high availability and assures business performance by monitoring WebSphere resources. It enables IT professionals to anticipate bottlenecks and take corrective action before problems become critical and affect a business' bottom line, including lost customers, leading
to lost revenue. PATROL for WebSphere solutions benefit customers by accelerating return on investment of WebSphere, reducing manpower and time needed to detect system problems, cementing customer confidence and loyalty in a company's ability to deliver and increasing a company's business reputation.
"The world of e-business relies on Web servers being up and operational," said Renee Bacherman, general manager of the Business Information Integration business unit for BMC Software. "Simply put, if they crash, businesses fail to meet critical customer and business needs. PATROL enables companies to meet online expectations by enhancing the customers' overall quality of experience. This is critical, since quality of experience is a key driver of both customer loyalty and repeat business."
IT organizations that have deployed Web-based e-business and e-commerce infrastructures must have the availability to monitor these systems. IBM WebSphere Application Server facilitates the development of Java applications for core business information systems. WebSphere plays a key role in the integration of legacy data sources to new Web-based business processes. The monitoring of the application server is critical to maintaining maximum uptime. PATROL monitors the server-side applications and support environment, which is key to the business process system. PATROL for WebSphere monitors the health and availability of production Web applications that are deployed on the WebSphere application server infrastructure.
PATROL for IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro Edition addresses e-Commerce application management by managing server-side availability and performance of mission critical B2B e-Commerce applications deployed on IBM's WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro Edition platforms.
"Today's announcement extends BMC Software's e-business offering by delivering the most comprehensive e-business management solutions for enterprise availability and optimization of the end-users experience," said Paul Barker, general manager, PATROL eBusiness Solutions, BMC Software. "By managing the entire value chain from end to end, BMC Software is helping customers transform business into e-business."
PATROL for WebSphere Advanced Edition Primary Features:
-- Monitors server-side operations, performance and availability of production Web applications for optimal performance -- Enables developers to monitor the state of services as they build, test and deploy new business components in the WebSphere Server environment -- Coupled with the breadth and depth of other BMC Software offerings, enables customers to manage the entire e-business experience from the firewall through the applications all the way to the data source, including measurement of the overall end user experience -- Working in conjunction with MAINVIEW(R) for WebSphere, which manages the WebSphere environment on OS/390 systems, PATROL for WebSphere provides a complete end-to-end IBM WebSphere management solution -- available immediately
"BMC Software's PATROL for WebSphere will expand our customers' capabilities to monitor and manage their Web applications deployed on the WebSphere application server infrastructure," said Paraic Sweeney, vice president of marketing and product management for the Application and Integration Middleware Division for IBM. "It will give them the ability to anticipate and prevent potential bottlenecks before they occur. Perhaps the best part of PATROL for WebSphere is its ability to provide complete server-side Java management and monitor all critical components of Java applications deployed on the WebSphere Server platform."
