George Gilder Proclaims End of Storage;
Hosts First Storewidth Industry Conference
Gilder Publishing, LLC announced today that George Gilder, chairman of Gilder Publishing and author of the Gilder Technology Report, will host the first Storewidth industry conference, April 10-12, at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
The storewidth paradigm is at the heart of the next phase of Internet development. Gilder's conference, "Storewidth 2001 -- the End of Storage," will feature the long-standing giants of storage and pioneers in the emerging new storewidth industry. For three days, executives from Novell, Exodus, Network Appliance, EMC, Inktomi, Sun and Veritas will share the stage with startups like BlueArc, Scale Eight, Nishan Systems, TrueSAN and Mangosoft. Storewidth implementers such as Yipes and Williams will also be represented.
Scheduled keynote addresses will feature such estimable executives as Ellen Hancock, CEO of Exodus (Nasdaq:EXDS); Dan Warmenhoven, CEO of Network Appliance (Nasdaq:NTAP); Mike Ruettgers, Chairman, EMC (Nasdaq:EMC); Eric Schmidt, CEO of Novell (Nasdaq:NOVL) and Janpieter Scheerder, V.P. of Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW). Additional speakers will include over one dozen of the industry's top CEOs, including those from Veritas, Legato, Equinix, Digital Island, Storability and Arsenal. Special guests appearing at Storewidth 2001 include David Gelernter, Chief Scientist of Mirror Worlds Technologies, Nick Tredennick, author of Dynamic Silicon and Milo Medin, CTO of Excite@Home (ATHM).
The conference will kick off with a debate between Akamai guru Avi Freedman (Nasdaq:AKAM) and Mirror Image Internet V.P. Bob Hammond, aimed at unraveling the intricacies of content delivery and content distribution networks. Bill Miller, co-founder of StorageNetworks (Nasdaq:STOR) will introduce a storage service provider panel of his peers from StorageAlliance, ManagedStorage, Arsenal and Storability.
In perhaps the most anticipated event of the week, Dr. Geoff Barrall, CTO and founder of BlueArc, will introduce BlueArc's Silicon Server to the industry. Joining him on stage will be Dan Warmenhoven, the CEO of Network Appliance. In last month's issue of the Gilder Technology Report, George Gilder made the bold statement that "BlueArc imperils all the software based network storage appliances, whether from NetApp, EMC, Hewlett Packard, Procom or Compaq."
Gilder has chosen INVESTools Inc., a subsidiary of Telescan Inc. (Nasdaq:TSCN), as marketing partner for this three-day event. For more information about Storewidth 2001, visit www.investools.com/gilder or call 800/720-1112.
