Prominent Internet Leaders Form Web Quality of Experience Workgroup
Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), The Internet Performance Authority(R), together with six prominent Internet companies announced today the formation of the Web Quality of Experience (QoE) Workgroup -- a group of industry leaders providing a joint set of optimized, intelligent infrastructure solutions that set the standard for superior online customer experience and drive industry innovation for meeting future online customer needs. The founding members of the Web QoE Workgroup in addition to Keynote include the Hewlett-Packard Company, Cisco Systems, BroadVision, Ecometry, USinternetworking and WebCriteria. These companies are representative of the key solution areas for creating, measuring, monitoring and controlling total Web QoE.
The workgroup's Web site, www.webqoe.org, will publish a new Web QoE Index containing quality measurements by both Keynote and WebCriteria that serves as a benchmark comparison and standard against which visitors to the site can compare the performance and site quality of their own e-business. The Web QoE Index incorporates performance and availability results from the Keynote Perspective(TM) measurement service, taken every 15 minutes between 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. PST from 66 Internet access points in 25 metropolitan areas in the United States, a subset of Keynote's global network of measurement computers in over 120 locations around the world. This results in over 29,000 weekly measurements for each site representing the experience of end users around the country.
"Our membership in the Web QoE Workgroup is yet another example of Keynote's commitment to assuring e-business success," said Bill Jones, Sr. director of public services at Keynote. "At the end of the day, it's the end user's experience that's important.
