CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2001
P-Com, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCOM), a high-capacity fixed wireless access equipment supplier, has again received, with zero non-compliances, recommendation by ITS Intertek Services for extension of its ISO 9001 certification. The recommendation follows the periodic ITS Intertek Services surveillance audit for extension of ISO 9001-compliant processes and procedures. Teaming with P-Com's QMS (Quality Management System) personnel, ITS Intertek Services conducted an audit of the methods, processes, and procedures integral to P-Com's wireless access systems manufacturing business. ISO 9001 certification symbolizes adherence to international quality standards. Both the certification, and the subsequent extensions, are important means by which companies are measured by their customers, and by potential customers. Continued ISO certification is essential to businesses such as P-Com which serve global telecommunications technology markets.
ISO 9001 certification is of particular importance to P-Com because of the unusual breadth and depth of its wireless product lines. P-Com provides Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) and Point-to-Point (PTP) systems in both its broadband access systems and its Spread Spectrum systems, whereas most manufacturers in the wireless access business provide either broadband PMP or broadband PTP.
"Meeting the ISO quality challenge is most rewarding. The Intertek recommendation for extension of our certification speaks clearly to the focus P-Com has on producing high quality products in which our customers can have confidence as they operate and expand their networks. Our manufacturing and quality teams have executed with foresight and precision, and we are enjoying the fruits of their abilities and their attention to detail," said Jim Sobczak, president and COO of P-Com.
