Janet Scardino Joins AOL as Senior Vice President of International Marketing

Former Disney and MTV Executive Brings Extensive International Brand
Management and Creative Content Experience to AOL
America Online, Inc. (AOL), the world's leading interactive services company, today announced the appointment of Janet Scardino as Senior Vice President of International Marketing.
Scardino will lead international strategic marketing and brand management for the America Online, Inc. brands as the Company continues to expand its businesses globally. Currently AOL International offers services in 16 countries and eight languages.
Scardino will report to Joe Redling, President of Brand Marketing for AOL, Inc. and will work closely with Michael Lynton, President of AOL International, on all international marketing initiatives.
Scardino joins AOL International from the Walt Disney Company, where she was Managing Director for the Disney Channel Italia. In that position, she was responsible for launching and operating the premium Italian pay-TV service, and under her leadership the channel achieved outstanding success on-air and online, as well as in its marketing, distribution and financial performance.

Prior to joining Disney in 1998, Scardino was Senior Vice President of International Sales and Co-Production for animation studio and children's programming distributor Sunbow Entertainment, then a division of SonyWonder.
In this capacity Scardino doubled international program sales revenues in one year, forged critical co-production alliances and first-of-their kind agreements with Cartoon Network Europe, Walt Disney Television International, and Ravensburger's RTV.
Previously, Scardino spent 10 years at MTV, a division of Viacom Inc., where she most recently served as Vice President of MTV's International Marketing. She was instrumental in the launches of several localized channels, including MTV Asia, MTV Japan, MTV Latino and MTV Australia. As a result of this expansion, the MTV brand reached more than 50 new countries and nearly 100 million more homes.
Scardino was responsible for leading the network's strategic marketing internationally, spearheading MTV's first global sponsorship agreements, and managing the MTV brand around the world.
Janet Scardino began her career producing television commercials and in production of several branded programming franchises including MTV Unplugged, MTV's Real World and MTV's Movie Awards. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communications from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.
