RED BANK, NJ--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2001
GlobeSpan, Inc. (NASDAQ:GSPN), a leading provider of integrated circuits, software, and system designs for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) applications, today announced that it will showcase its DSL chip set solutions at the upcoming CeBIT 2001 DSL Forum Showcase, "Destination DSL", from March 22-28 in Hanover, Germany. During this DSL Forum interoperability event, the company will demonstrate the interoperability of its various ADSL reference designs with multiple DSLAM vendors from around the world.
"Interoperability is one of GlobeSpan's primary goals, allowing us to ensure maximum connectivity with deployed and future DSLAM equipment," said Nizar Azzam, GlobeSpan's CPE Product Line Manager. "This CeBIT DSL Forum event offers us the chance to show how our programmable ADSL solutions are interoperable with many ADSL flavors while ensuring top performance that will enable service providers to extend their customer base worldwide."
"Destination DSL", which is sponsored by the DSL Forum, features the latest advances in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) high-speed Internet access. Additional information about this event can be found at: www.dslforum.org/PressRoom/CEBIT2001_index.html
About GlobeSpan's ADSL Reference Designs
GlobeSpan's ADSL reference designs have been engineered to accelerate the mass deployment of DSL and to provide end-users with the ability to establish reliable high-speed Internet access at affordable prices. The company's USB ADSL reference design allows for easy consumer installation, offering plug-n-play ADSL connectivity for personal computers and providing PC OEMs with the lowest USB ADSL system cost and complexity. At the same time, GlobeSpan's PCI ADSL reference design reduces the complexity of system design and makes it easy for equipment manufacturers to design a rapid time-to-market solution that meets service providers' increasing demand for ADSL PC solutions. Both GlobeSpan's USB and PCI solutions support all ADSL standards including ITU G.992.1 (G.dmt), ANSI T1.413 Issue 2, ANSI TR-59 (RADSL), and ITU G. 992 Annex A, Annex B, and Annex C, while insuring interoperability with deployed DSLAM equipment.
Leading the Industry in Cost Savings and Ease of DSL Deployment
GlobeSpan's ADSL reference designs are one product line in a long history of GlobeSpan products designed to lead the industry in ease of DSL deployment and overall cost savings for all flavors of DSL. In recent months, GlobeSpan has released both the Orion Symmetric DSL chip set, which supports the new ITU G 991.2 SHDSL standard, as well as the G-16 multi-mode ADSL chip set, which is the world's first 16-port ADSL solution. GlobeSpan's fully programmable Orion chip set eases DSL deployment by offering extended reach and higher data rates that are the hallmarks of SHDSL, while the G-16 chipset enables equipment manufacturers to design and build high-density network access line cards, utilizing half the area of existing ADSL chip set solutions and translating into substantial system cost savings. DSL equipment manufacturers and service providers agree that system cost savings and ability to help ease DSL deployment are the two greatest factors in choosing a solutions provider as well as insuring successful future rollouts of DSL.
