AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 26, 2001
Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) increased its support for small businesses today with the introduction of a new, aggressively priced line of servers for small business and small office environments.
The first servers in Dell's new simplified computing (SC) line of PowerEdge(tm) servers, the PowerEdge 300SC and 1400SC replace Dell's PowerEdge 300 and 1400 servers, and will offer features Dell has found relevant for small business customers. The PowerEdge SC servers start at $899, prices that are up to 13 percent less than previously available. Future PowerEdge SC servers will offer even more value options to the small business market along with a range of value-added services, such as the recently announced pre-installed Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 Small Business Server software and the Dell Mobile Office Server wireless solution.
Small business customers have helped Dell become the no. 2 supplier of Standard Intel Architecture servers worldwide(a), a fact that Dell attributes to its ability to deliver quality products and services at some of the most aggressive prices in the industry.
"The Dell direct model enables us to talk directly to all of our customers and quickly respond to their needs," said Ro Parra, Dell's senior vice president for small and medium business. "Small business customers tell us they need powerful, reliable and easy-to-use systems at affordable prices and that's what we're delivering."
PowerEdge SC servers address the needs of small business and corporate workgroup customers with relevant technologies, such as Pentium(R) III processors and support for up to 2 GB of memory and 144 GB of internal storage, simple management tools, and support for Network Attached Storage. Extensive online and customer support are also available to help even the most novice users install and manage their servers.
Dell Services provides customers a single point of accountability for a diverse suite of enterprise computing services focused on rapid deployment and system uptime. Featured services available for the PowerEdge SC include Custom Factory Integration, server installation services, next business day response and 7x24 direct line software support of operating systems, systems management and select Microsoft applications.
Pricing for the PowerEdge 300SC begins at $899 and the PowerEdge 1400SC starts at $1,099. Further information is available at www.dell.com/poweredge.
